Sara Giddings is a tax, estate planning, and business law practitioner in San Angelo, Texas.  She currently works at the firm of Smith Rose Finley PC.  She serves as the District 15 TYLA Director.  She is very involved in her community and statewide and currently serves as the Tom Green County Young Lawyers President, the chair of the Solo and Small Firm Section of the State Bar Tax Section, on the Executive Leadership Team for Tom Green County Relay for Life, and on the Board for San Angelo Cowboy Gathering.  She has been published in the ABA Section of Taxation News Quarterly “Should a Mailbox Be Enough? (January 2009) and in the Texas Tax Lawyer “Addressing the Corporate Inversion Loophole: A Proposal to Redefine Domestic Corporation Status” (Winter 2016). She graduated from the University of Houston Law Center in 2007 and Austin College in 2004 with a double major in   English and Political Science.  She was recently honored as one of San Angelo’s 20 under 40, Texas Business Women’s Woman to Watch, and the Outstanding Young Lawyer for Tom Green County Young Lawyers Association.

In this powerful episode, Sara and I discuss how she currently deals with depression and how she has been dealing with it since she was a teenager. Then we talk about how she learned to seek the necessary help and support she needed since she wasn’t receiving support from her former employer. Sara also offers suggestions and resources for young lawyers who might be dealing with mental health issues.
